We have two daughters, a recent Columbia graduate and a current CGS senior, and an equally adorable 5-year-old yellow Labrador retriever named Bodhi. We are grateful for the Easter pancake breakfasts and Santa outings where our children have made cherished memories. Since moving from Scottsdale in 2000, we’ve run our home-based businesses from our picturesque Silvermine home. Our wonderful neighbors have become lifelong friends and continue to share in our aerospace adventures.

What part does the Silvermine Community Association play in your overall sense of “being a Silverminer?”
The Silvermine Community Association plays a central role in what it means to be a Silverminer. It keeps our neighborhood connected through shared traditions, local events, and a spirit of belonging that makes Silvermine so special. The SCA brings together families, new residents, and longtime neighbors, creating opportunities for everyone to engage, celebrate, and learn about the area’s history and character. Through gatherings like the Easter breakfasts, seasonal celebrations, and community initiatives, the association helps maintain the warmth and charm that define Silvermine. Its efforts remind us that being a Silverminer is not just about where we live, but about being part of a caring and creative community that values friendship, heritage, and togetherness.

- Other Favorites: We love SCA events that celebrate Silvermine’s history and community. The historical walks and home gatherings help us connect with neighbors and appreciate the area’s charm. A lecture series on early artists and a fun treasure hunt would be great additions that reflect Silvermine’s creativity, history, and friendships.
What future events or activities would you like to see the SCA offer?
We would love to see the SCA host more community gatherings that bring neighbors together and celebrate Silvermine’s charm. Concert and theater events would highlight the incredible local talent and create opportunities for residents to enjoy the arts close to home. A community high tea would offer a warm, elegant setting for conversation and connection, especially across generations. And a Silvermine Historical Trivia Night would be a fun and engaging way to honor the neighborhood’s rich history while strengthening community bonds. These kinds of events would capture the creative, welcoming spirit that makes Silvermine such a special place to live.
